Top 5 Restaurants I Miss Back in Calcutta

Fun fact - I come from the City of Joy - Calcutta. Anyone who knows me, whether they love me or hate me, will agree unanimously that I am a super foodie. I plan my day around my meals.

It goes without saying that India is the ultimate food heaven for foodies. If there is one thing I miss more than anything else back home, it has to be the food there.

Here are my top picks of favorite eateries from Calcutta -

1. Peter Cat - Of course it had to be in the list. I admit, the Chelo Kebab we get today compared to the ones we ate growing up is a huge nosedive in terms of the quality. But there's something really nostalgic about the ridiculously old carpets and the dim orange lights.

2. Chin Wah - Not many people know about this little family run joint in Chandni Chowk. But believe me you, in the days of "Asian Fusion", if you want a taste of truly authentic Chinese cuisine, this is THE place.

3. Bombay Shiv Sagar - This place holds a special place in my heart because myself and my mom would always end up here after a tedious day of shopping! The chaats, the noodles, the dosa - you name it, I've tried it.

4. Momo I Am - Juiciest momos in town - nuff said!

5. Flavours of China (Bar B Q) - Of course I saved the best for the last. One place which has kept it's quality impeccable over the years has to be Bar B Q. My trip back home is not complete without a dine-in at this Calcutta landmark.

Make sure to visit these places (if you haven't already) if you're lucky enough to stay in Calcutta. I in the meantime will go back to taking a bite of my unseasoned European dinner!
